Welcome to a special Year In Review edition of the AO3 Ship Stats!
This list shows the 100 pairing tags which had the greatest gain in total fanworks posted on Archive Of Our Own during the period 2 Jan 2021 - 1 Jan 2022. There are 57 M/M pairings, 10 F/M, 3 F/F, 1 Poly, 22 Gen and 7 Other. (Please note that on AO3, ‘Name & Name’ with an ampersand indicates platonic or familial ‘Gen’ relationships, while ‘Name/Name’ with a slash is used for romantic and sexual pairings.)
Of the 205 names on the list, 16 belong to women and 7 to characters of indeterminate gender, compared with from 22 and 2 in last year's list. In total there are 113 white characters, 74 Asian characters, 4 Latino characters, 2 Black characters, and 1 North African character, as well as 12 racially ambiguous characters. There are 80 total Characters of Colour, down from 104 in 2020's list.
